ARTIST
Lewis, exhibiting under their initials EVPL, is a multidisciplinary artist invested in the materiality of the everyday and the joy of creative collaboration.
Their artworks often take the form of altered found objects, grappling with human-object interactions.
As such, they are primarily interested in mundane functionality and "object memory." Taking items from their everyday life, Lewis draws from Aesthetic theories like Yuriko Saito's "Everyday Aesthetics" and Arthur Danto's "Transfiguration of the Commonplace."
Likewise, they have begun applying John Dewey's "Art as Experience" to their own pedagogy in community art spaces.
They are additionally passionate about printmaking, implementing the craft as much as possible in their local collaborative projects and their own creative endeavors.
